However, as Diaclone launched as a sister series that year, Takara and Design Mate parted ways (reunited decades later in the 1999 revival of the series) and Takara rebooted the series under the direction of veteran Microman designer Hideyaki Yokeas “ New Microman”, its first major sweeping change to Microman since the Zone series. The manga told a slightly different version of the story in turn, but the two were merged with elements from the manga incorporated into the toys in 1980. The 1975 Microman story would become the main and most popular canon, supplemented by a manga created by the late Yoshihiro Moritou (manga artist adapter of several popular anime and tokusatsu series, notably various Ultraman series, Zaborger, Captain Scarlett, and Fang of the Sun Dougram) which ran from 1975 to 1980.

The story introduced would serve as a basic concept (known as the Microman Zone series), but in 1975, it was heavily revised under the direction of the agency Design Mate, expanding the setting and adding more science fiction elements, largely influenced by other manga, anime, and tokusatsu and competing toys.
